KKK Planning Rally to Protest Ole Miss Fight Song Ban

KKK Planning Rally to Protest Ole Miss Fight Song Ban

Ole Miss Chancellor Dan Jones recently removed "From Dixie With Love" as the school's fight song after students refused to stop chanting "The South Will Rise Again" ... despite warnings that continued chanting of said, um, "proud" words would result in a ban. The students refused to cooperate and as a result, Jones yanked the song, stating that the school cannot "appear to support those outside our community who advocate a revival of segregation."

So, yeah, you won't be seeing/hearing any of that come Saturday when LSU plays in Oxford. You know what you WILL be seeing? The Ku Klux Klan. Sweet Moses I wish I was joking.

Shane Tate, the North Mississippi great titan for the Mississippi White Knights of the Ku Klux Klan, confirmed via e-mail the KKK will rally on Ole Miss’ campus in protest of the Ole Miss Chancellor Dan Jones’ decision to remove “From Dixie with Love” from the Ole Miss band’s song selection.

“We are coming to Ole Miss to say enough is enough on attacking our Christian, southern heritage and culture, and it’s time for every person to have a right to freedom of speech,” Tate said.

“We aren’t coming there to cause problems or cause trouble,” Tate said. “Trouble has already been caused by a handful at Ole Miss, including the black student body president, who wants to shape Ole Miss into yet another liberal sodomite college.”

Goodness. Now, the easy thing to do would be to curse at the Klan for their refusal to move into the 21st century (although the willingness to at least recognize the internet by using email is at least a step, even if it's not "giving up on racism" I suppose), but really, how can you blame them?

Of course, there's always an optimistic silver lining to this: in the year 2009, no one cares about the Klan (last I heard about them, they were desperately seeking attention by marching down the streets of High Point, NC, which, believe me, is the ultimate act of desperation) and their presence -- which, as Orson put it, darn well better be cartoonishly exuberant -- will likely cause the majority of students to give up on a antiquated tradition that roots itself in Southern pride racism when they see just how far to the right their decision to shout something like this sets them in the public eye.

Why is it that southern pide is always tied to racism. Not all Southerners are racist, nor are we all backwoods rednecks, yet we are just as proud of our Southern heritage as the next person. Some would do good to remember that slavery was not just a Southern thing. Should we stop waving the American flag for what they did to the native Americans? If the south were to rise again I feel certain that slavery would not suddenly become common once again. Times change but history and heritage, and tradition, will always be the same. A person should not be insulted by a flag, or song, or a statement if it is not flown, sang or shouted in a negative way. Now I will admit that the klan is a part of our southern heritage that should be removed from the public eye, not these things that make us proud Southerners.

Like, seriously guys!
Any why does everyone think that Nazisim is tied to Eugenic Policiys? Not every Nazi was blonde, nor were all blood thirsty meglomaniacs, yet all were proud of their strong german heritage as the next! Some would do good to remember that anti sematisim wasn't just a nazi thing! Should we stop waving our communist flags for what happened in the doctors plot? If the Nazi's were to rise again, I feel that anti semistim wouldn't suddenly become common again! Times chage, but history, heritage, and traditio... oh wait. Lol. Slavery is as much a part of the history and heritage of the confederacy as eugenics and anti semitisim were of the Nazi's.

Get a life, you red neck glenn beck oxycotin hillybilly from hell.

Maybe you should go back to whatever school you came from and ask them for a refresher in history. Nazis were not communists! In fact it was COMMUNISTS that allied with the US to defeat Hitler's army.

And no, slavery is not endemic to the old south. What you are doing is equating "the south" with an ethos which is just as wrong as equating Germany with Nazis.

Wrong, wrong, wrong and wrong.

I think everyone misses the point here. Why the f**k does the south need to rise again. Are you people implying the north is risen and the south isn't? Last time I checked we were all one country and the fact that the klan has a problem with banning the use of the phrase "the south will rise again" just shows that it does have racist tones to it. Don't try to argue that the klan wants to protect our freedom of speech because there is no misconception of what the klans purpose is. How staying on topic and chanting "Ole Miss will rise again." Trust me the south won't be rising to a damn thing nor do most southerners want to. I live and grew up 30 minutes from Ole Miss so I am pretty familiar with the "real" south and what it represents. From what I have seen growing up here I would estimate at least 75% of Mississipians are racist and they wouldn't mind enslaving a few brothas. And you know what it comes back to is piss poor parents that taught there kids to be racist and those kids grew up not thinking for themselves or ever trying.

Good points Jon! The Southerners didn't even win the war! You don't see "northerners" running around defending our Northern Pride! You can have your southern pride, but it will always be tied to racism and slavery because it is what it is. I wouldn't be so proud either that the Ku Klux Klan is coming to "defend" that southern pride. I guess the Ku Klux Klan isn't a racist organization either, right? And in case you haven't notices, the southern states have not changed so much.

You might want to remove the biased photo. Ole Miss students have no waved the Rebel flag in more than 10 years. Y'all obviously chose this photo to stir the pot. It's worse than a factual error. Get a clue.

Why is a school in the south playing of the song Dixie any more offensive than the New York baseball team being called YANKEES?? I just don't get it!!!

Wha,wha,wha... That is what is wrong with America, everyone crying all the time if they don't like something. The liberals are the best at crying. Anyways, if fans of a football team, which has great history, wants to sing a song or chant a chant in support of their team then go right ahead and sing your heart out. What we can't be proud to be from the south? After watching all other football conferences I would be ashamed to not be proud of the south. Another thing you all might want to think about, is that racism isn't a one-way street in this country. Another thing, I never owned a slave nor ever wanted to own a slave. I would appreciate it if you people who feel like I owe you something would come back to the present and stop living in the past, in which you didn't actually live in anyways.

Have any of the black players on th Ole Miss. team ever complained about the songs or the chants? Just wondering, I mean its not like anyone has a choice on where to go to school or anything. If they players have no problem with it then neither should anyone else. People try to be so politically correct all the time and it causes problems. Did Dan get a complaint or is this a solo move to try and show how caring and multicultural he can be.. C'mon Man. Dan, your team needs your support, not your distractions.

wow. let me first start off by saying, i am a student at ole miss. all of you sons of bitches who think that you know ANYTHING about the south need to get a clue. we've been chanting "the south will rise again" for seven football season. funny how no one thought it was offensive for the first six and a half. here's what happened: 1) our chancellor was told by ONE alumni that he would cut funding if the chant wasn't removed, and the chant wasn't going anywhere if the song was still around. in the process, our chancellor has lost countless funding from alums and all respect from the student body. 2) we now have a black student body president, so don't even get me started on how we are 'racist'. but, just for giggles--3) anybody know who was the first SEC school to integrate? anyone? well it was ole miss. still not sure where our 'racist' persona comes from.

just as a side note: coach nutt stated specifically that we have not lost one single sports recruit based on our 'racist' chant. trust me, there are just as many african americans in the student section singing along too.

the chant "the south will rise again" has NOTHING to do with any student uprising, racism, or will to start a war. that is completely absurd. it comes from a love of the south. we are all aware that mississippi is the poorest state in the union and is looked down upon by everyone. we chant(ed) "tswra" because we want people from our school to prosper. we want to rise and start a figurative revolution. we want people to give a damn about mississippi and not blow us all off as, i'm sorry, "red neck glenn beck oxycotin hillybilly from hell". and we're offensive?

what lessons have we learned here today? grow up, use common sense, learn some manners that your mother obviously didn't teach you, and don't go sticking your nose in other people's business.

hotty toddy and geaux to hell lsu.
