Did Barack Obama Jinx the Kentucky Wildcats?

Did Barack Obama Jinx the Kentucky Wildcats?

It's been a while since Kentucky has risen to a number 1 ranking in the polls, 2003 I believe, but this week that is exactly where they stood. Their first task was to fend of SEC foe South Carolina tonight, but just a few minutes ago they fell short, getting dropped like Greg Oden's pants by the Gamecocks, 68-62.

The real kicker to this story is that Obama may have seen this coming! Reaching out to the UK squad and Coach Cal earlier today in praise of their "Hoops for Haiti" efforts (which reeled in a cool $1 mil for to donate to relief efforts). President Obama said:

"I just want to let you guys know that I am very, very proud of what you guys did. It shows a lot of character and I hope that carries over. Some of you will be going to the NBA. Some of you are going to be doing other things with your lives, but I hope that spirit of doing for others continues."

But before things could wrap up, Obama had this to say about the Wildcats recent ascendancy to that number 1 spot:

"There is that tendency once you get to number one to let down a little bit."

Well, as an NC State fan, I knew right then and there that any sort of obviously ill-timed comment like that injected too many negative juices and meant certain impending doom for the lone unbeaten team in the land. Karma's a bitch, and it doesn't take much to agitate that lady. And sure 'nuff, Barack Obama's predicted let down came to be and the boys in blue felt that tendency become an all too true reality.
