Georgia's Green, Rambo definitely out for Kentucky

Georgia's Green, Rambo definitely out for Kentucky

Bad news for the Bulldogs: A.J. Green and Bacarri Rambo are both out of play for Georgia v. Kentucky. Personally, I would be surprised if either comes back this season. I mean, why risk it with only two games--possibly three--in a season that is, well, memorable only for how bad it has been?

Rambo suffered a concussion during the Georgia v. Auburn game, but does appear to be doing fine. He has passed all of his diagnostic tests, has no additional symptoms, and is being reassessed daily. Green, on the other hand, suffered a left shoulder AC sprain and it does not appear that it will require surgery. But, both athletes are definitely out for the Kentucky game, with further evaluations to determine future games this season.

Green will be the biggest loss for the Dawgs, as the SECs leading receiver and an integral part of the Georgia offense. But, his absence will give other players a chance to step up and add to the game, including those involved with the underutilized ground game. Look to see a lot of Caleb King, who scored twice late in the game v. Auburn, and Washaun Ealey, who was named the SEC Freshman of the Week for his play against the Tigers, which included 98 yards and a touchdown that revitalized the team after giving the Dawgs their first lead of the game in the third quarter, 17-14.

Georgia will play their last 2009 home game this weekend v. Kentucky. The game is scheduled to kick off at 7:45 p.m. (EST) and will be broadcast on either ESPN or ESPN2.
