This season just keeps going downhill.

After less than two full seasons, University of Georgia mascot Uga VII has passed away. He died in Savannah with his owner and trainer, Frank W. “Sonny” Seiler and family of an apparent heart attack.

"We are all in a state of shock," said Seiler on www.georgiadogs.com. "We had no warning whatsoever."

According to Seiler, there are appropriate replacements ready for duty, but that no such discussions will take place until next year.

This Saturday, there will be no live mascot for the University of Georgia, only a wreath placed on an empty dog house on the north sideline between the hedges.

Goodbye, Uga VII; your reign was short but well-done.
