About Your Gridiron Goddess

I usually explain my near savant like knowledge of football and love for the game like this: I have brothers. And I went to USC. That shuts about 50% of inquisitors up. heh.
Hi! I’m Amy, and I am Your Gridiron Goddess. I am a Los Angeles based writer and fanatical USC Trojan fan.
I am obsessed with football. I bleed cardinal and gold on Saturdays. I root for Da Bears, The Bolts and all NFL USC Trojan Alumni on Sundays.
I'll be blogging about USC at Buster Sports. USC. The Cardinal and Gold. The Trojan Mafia. The Men and Women of Troy. Call me a homer, I don't care. Did I mention I bleed Cardinal & Gold?

All weekend the rumors have been flying around the Internet and ESPN. Beloved USC Coach Pete Carroll – in talks with the Seattle Seahawks? Say it isn’t so Pete! But alas, it is so. Carroll officially handed in his resignation at USC on Sunday evening.

Even kids know it's better to be a Trojan than a Bruin!

It's Troy Week - the week of the USC - UCLA game and there are many traditions at USC for Troy Week. From Tommy Trojan being wrapped up for protection (Insert Trojan pun here) to the alternate UCLA fight song lyrics - its a week when a great crosstown rivalry is enjoyed by fans of both schools.

USC has a bye and so do I. I'll be watching the Oregon-Arizona and Cal-Stanford games, having some cocktails and enjoying my weekend.

By definition a Bandwagon fan is someone who adopts a popular point of view for the primary purpose of recognition and/or acceptance by others. USC has more than its share of bandwagon fans. I am happy to announce that their particular bandwagon is departing now every hour on the hour from Downtown LA. They are bound for Palo Alto. Congratulations Stanford, you can have 'em!

Let’s address all these ridiculous “The Fall of Troy: The Dynasty is Dead” statements the press has been screaming from their pulpits. People. Let’s get real. USC has the talent, it has the depth, it has Pete Carroll. After seven years at the top of the Pac-10 pile, and with coaching attrition the likes of which no other major collegiate program has (a whole post dedicated to that will go up this week) Pete Carroll’s Trojans were due a rebuilding year.

Well that was a thoroughly depressing game tonight. Stanford had their way with USC and handed the Trojans the worst loss at home in the history of the Trojan football program. I'm thinking only a large order of french fries can cure what ails me tonight,

I am about as big a Trojan fan as they come. My car’s license plates are LOVSCFB (Love SC football). I passionately rooted for my team throughout the dark days known as the 1990s. I plotted ways to take Paul Hackett out. Anything to help my Trojans. So it pains me to say this, but: We very well could lose this game. I would not be surprised if we do.

If I did not know better, I’d have sworn we were looking at a Paul Hackett coached USC team on Saturday in Tempe. We looked that bad. That undisciplined. That off the mark. Coverages were blown. Our vaunted speed on defense was nowhere to be seen. Our freshman phenom QB looked like, well, a freshman QB minus the phenom.
